Scottsdale Hillside Digital Twin
This interactive 3D model was generated using high-resolution drone photogrammetry, capturing over 1,200 images across a steep hillside property in Scottsdale, Arizona. The dataset delivers a highly detailed, true-to-scale digital representation of the terrain, including elevation changes, surface features, and surrounding context.
Project Overview
AeroViews was commissioned to capture high-resolution 3D spatial data of a steep hillside property in Scottsdale, Arizona to support the integration of an existing architectural model into a real-world environment. The objective was to create a true-to-scale digital representation of the terrain that could serve as an accurate base for design visualization and planning.
Using advanced drone photogrammetry, our team captured over 1,200 high-resolution images across complex elevation changes and rugged terrain. The dataset was processed into a detailed 3D model, preserving elevation accuracy, surface conditions, and surrounding context.
This model allows the client to seamlessly insert and align their architectural design within the existing terrain, enabling precise visualization of how the structure interacts with the hillside. From slope relationships to site placement and access considerations, the model provides critical context that cannot be achieved with traditional 2D data alone.
The result is a highly accurate digital environment that supports design validation, stakeholder presentations, and more informed decision-making for hillside development projects.

Results & Impact
The high-resolution 3D dataset captured by AeroViews provided the client with an accurate, true-to-scale digital representation of the Scottsdale hillside, purpose-built for architectural model integration. The processed 3D model allowed the design team to place and align their existing structure directly within the terrain, ensuring precise positioning relative to slope, elevation, and surrounding features.
By working within a real-world digital environment, the team was able to evaluate how the architectural design interacts with the hillside, including grading considerations, access points, and overall site fit. This eliminated uncertainty and reduced the need for repeated site visits during the early planning stages.
